Learn A Word A Day Programme 2023 – Action Plan schedule

Day Wise Words “Learn a Word a Day” for 1-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-10 Classes: Learn a Word a Day of the Andhra Pradesh government is implemented through the AP SCERT. The program is started in all the schools of the state to improve the student’s vocabulary in the English language. The program is implemented in the schools under the management from 01/07/2022 to 30/07/2022. The district educational officer of the state is invited to keep their focus on the program “Learn A Word A Day” from classes 1 to 10th.

Learn a Word a Day Process of learning the word

  • As a part of the scheduled program, a single word is announced in the daily assembly.
  • The word is written on the blackboard at the top right corner in the first period of the school.
  • The word will be explained by the teacher in the English hour along with the spelling, pronunciation, parts of speech, forms of the word, use, and the word meaning in the two languages.
  • The word should be copied by all the students in a 100 pages notebook named “My Dictionary” that will be checked by the teacher.
  • The given word should be underlined by the students with a pencil in their dictionary.
  • Level 1: The word along with its Telugu meaning is given oral drilling and vice versa.
  • Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4: The word is explained with its parts of speech, meaning, and usage.
  • All the teachers have to use the word as many times as possible and make the communication with students throughout all the hours.
  • The first five minutes of every period should be used to practice the word. All the students should practice the word by repeating it along with its meaning.
  • The checking of the notebooks, and dictionaries of the students and the execution of classes will be monitored by the monitoring officers.
  • Assessment will be conducted every 15 days in the name of “Spell Bee” among the words that are learned.
  • The students should be advised to practice the words at home.
  • The daily words taught should be displayed on the classroom blackboard, display in the school assembly, and on the veranda display board.

July 2022 Month Schedule for learning the word:

Level 1: Learn A Word A Day (1 and 2 classes, April 2023)

  • Grade 1 should focus on English word pronunciation and spelling.
  • Grade 2 is to be encouraged to learn the spelling and meaning of the word.

  • Students should be able to find the word from the “Primary level Illustrated Dictionary”.
  • Students should learn the Parts of speech, meaning, and the usage of the dictionary.

  • Students have to search for the word from the Oxford Dictionary.
  • The teacher should encourage the student to learn the word, spelling, usage, and parts of speech.
  • Allow the students to make their sentences with the word.

  • The proper pronunciation, spelling, parts of speech, various meaning of the word, and its other form has to be learned by the student. And they are to be encouraged to make sentences with the assigned word.
